We have been studying obsolescence and security problems over a 30 year period. We discovered that the bare machine computing paradigm has an appropriate solution for reducing obsolescece and to build secure systems by design. This is an unconventional approach at this time, but it is the only solution to solve obsolescence and security problems. In additon, we found that the bare machine computing paradigm has some hidden characteristics that are yet to be explored. We also found that obsolescence and security are architectural problems. The bare machine computing paradigm provides an architectural foundation along with its engineering priciples to address both obsolescence and security by its architecture. We are currently working on investigating this architectural foundation, it looks very promising to address the above two problems in a simplistic manner that would bring a revoltion in building durable systems that can last for a century.
